Besides supporting the 1.2.x version there's on-going work on creating the next generation of this CMS. Although it's based on the same core concepts it will be totally rewritten in order to add .NET Core support as well as opening up for some powerful new features.
Some of the features in the next generation:
- .NET Core compatibility (as well as 4.x)
- More service oriented infrastructure to better match modern day development
- Content blocks
- Multi-language support
- Multi-site support
- Use of display templates
- Much improved UI
- On-page-editing
